Pinterest Project How-to: Twine Bottles

I love Pinterest, and I love making home made gifts for Christmas. Here is a step by step guide for my first Christmas project.

Today I am going to show you how easy the "Twine Bottles" are to make! And some pointers on what NOT to do. (I learned these through trial and error)

First off, you will need some supplies:

1) Twine or Hemp. I used the Hemp pictured below. You can make two Twine Bottles out of one of these rolls.

2) Gather your wine bottles. Choose one to use. You do not need to remove the labels.

The large wine bottle we will be using to make a Twine Bottle lamp. I will post those directions at a later date.

3) You will need a hot glue gun. I use a mini glue gun that is high temp.

4)This is the bottle I chose to work with.

Start a couple rows down from the mouth of the bottle.

Make sure you start at the top. I learned this the hard way. If you start at the bottom, when it comes to the wine bottle getting more narrow, it becomes hard to keep the twine from spacing out.

You only need to tack the twine every few rows. Just use a small dot of hot glue, and wipe the extra with your finger, JUST MAKE SURE NOT TO BURN YOURSELF!

Make your way down the bottle, keeping the hemp/twine as tight as possible. this is the point where it gets a little trickier because you no longer have the slope of the neck working with you. I found that I had to tack it more often to get the tight look I wanted.

This is what my first attempt looked like when I started at the bottom. It was too difficult to keep the twine/hemp tight.

Tacking the twine/hemp 

Pull the twine/hemp tight. 

 I found it easiest to hold the neck of the bottle against my stomach for some leverage.

 Keep going until you have done one row on the bottom so the end is hidden.

This is what it will look like after you have finished the body of the bottle, then you want to go back up and do the very top of the neck. I found this easiest to do by cutting a small piece of twine/hemp and tacking the entire piece.

The bottle on the left is our finished product. The bottle on the right is my first trial. You can see that it has a lot looser look to it.

There are a number of ways you can finish these off. You can use a wooden letter (the first letter of a last name, for instance), you can cut a piece of fabric and tie a bow around the top, or stick something inside like a festive flower.

However you choose to finish them off, they will be a great gift for anyone you know!!

I am a wife. To my very best friend. We have a crazy story, and I believe without a doubt, he was the man I was meant to marry.

I am a mother. I have 2 daughters. The oldest is 4, she has a different father, than my husband. And that little girl is responsible for changing me in ways I never knew were possible. Our second daughter is 2, and she is a true middle child. She is crazy and makes me laugh every single day. We also have a son, who is 6 weeks old. I never knew a piece of me was missing until the day I held him in my arms for the very first time. I love my children with every fiber of my being. But there is definitely a special bond between a mother and her son.

 I truly believe that my calling in life was to be a wife and mother.


I have many other interests that go along with my life calling. I love cooking, baking, crafting and cleaning! I also LOVE organizing. I hope to share some of my tips in the future! :) I also enjoy wine and Target (because really, who doesn't love Target?!)


I am on a journey of plant based eating, daily exercising, self improvement, and honestly, just getting the most out of this crazy life!


I am a natural birth advocate, I encapsulated my placenta, I have had miscarriages, and a baby who was born prematurely and didn't survive. I have had many experiences in my life, that I hope to share my views and thoughts. But in a loving, helpful, proactive way. I will never judge. And I firmly believe that just because one thing worked for me, does not mean it will work for another.

Hello Blogland! 

I can't express how excited I got when I was invited to join this project. Taking on a blog with this group of ladies makes it feel a lot less overwhelming and a lot more welcoming. 
I am a wife, a mom, a crafter of many things, and certainly a dreamer. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for just over 8 years and my hubby retired from the military about a year ago. HOOAH! We have two DSs and I will sometimes lovingly refer to them as Monster (7 years) and Bear (5 years). 
We have 3 furbabies, all dogs. Two oldies, but goodies, that we have had for 10 years and 1 wolf hybrid that is my DH's service dog (he is just under a year old). 
We go through a lot of ups and downs being a prior military family, but deployments have made us stronger, as individuals and as a family. 
I love to craft things and I recently started learning to sew from my mom. I feel very strongly about family and find the closeness of that bond to be quite sacred. 
I'm a lover of all things Disney and a firm believer in letting kids be kids for as long as they can. 
 The real world is rough enough and I cherish their innocence, but that does not by any means mean to hide them from the world! 
I'm hoping this blog becomes a place of open information and great resources because none of us are perfect. I'm on a mission to eat better, exercise more, love harder, laugh more, and just enjoy life. Like many of you, I'm still figuring it all out too, so lets get started figuring it out together!
